Multiple ISIS militants were killed by an alleged joint operation carried out by Puntland forces and the US military in the Cal Miskaad mountains on December 31, 2024.

Shafaq News reported that “the Puntland Security Force (PSF), together with the US Air Force, carried out a joint operation on Tuesday targeting ISIS positions in the Cal Miskaad mountains.” The operation was in response to an ISIS attack on Darjali village and reportedly resulted in “the death of all ISIS militants responsible for the earlier attack, along with the seizure of their weapons.”

According to Shafaq News, Puntland confirmed the joint operation, quoting Mahmoud Mohamed Ahmed, spokesperson for Puntland’s counter-terrorism forces, as saying that the US had taken “a crucial step in supporting Puntland’s fight against terrorism”.
