Between February 9th and 10th 2025, more than 13 alleged ISIS-Somalia (Daesh) militants were reportedly killed in the Dhasaq area of the Calmiskaad mountain range in the Bari region of Puntland State, Somalia, in an airstrike carried out  in collaboration with the Federal Government of Somalia and Puntland authorities. No reports of civilian harm were found among local sources.

Anadolu Agency quoted the Puntland security forces who announced on February 10th that “The airstrike operation in the last 24 hours has killed more than 13 foreign ISIS terrorists in the Dhasaq area, which is part of the Calmiskaad mountain range.” GOOBJOOG News added that the command announced that they had also seized equipment during their operations.

While no sources directly implicated the US in the operation, the Somali government’s reference to airstrikes and “international partners” has in the past indicated US involvement but could also refer to Turkish involvement or United Arab Emirates involvement.
