On March 18th, 2025, local sources reported that an Israeli aircraft allegedly struck Rafah in the southern Gaza Strip, killing Mohammed Suleiman Mansour Qishta (38), also known as Abu Mansour.

Multiple family and community posts confirmed his death. The Facebook account The Qishta family inside and outside announced that Mohammed Suleiman Mansour Qishta was killed “by Israeli aircraft in the city of Rafah” at the age of 38. A series of relatives identified him as their cousin, including Mahmoud Abu Jamal Qishta, Ahed Qeshta, Bassam Qeshta, Mahmoud al-Sayyed Qishta, Amro Qishta, Jafar Mohammad Qishta, Basel Qishta, Memati Qishta, and Ahmad Qashta. Each offered condolences and prayers, describing him as a beloved family member, while Kamal Qishta specifically referred to him as a “dutiful son” to his parents.

Ibrahim Kweka al-Arja remembered him as a schoolmate at Taha Hussein School and described Mohammed as “the man of mathematics,” while a post by Memati Qeshta, referred to him as a “commander.” The term ‘commander’ could refer to someone’s work in a policing or emergency response capacity, but is also used to describe people who were active in a militant capacity. In line with Airwars methodology, as Airwars was unable to confirm the capacity in which Mohammed was a ‘commander’, and only one source referred to him in such a way, Mohammed has been recorded as a civilian. Visual tributes circulated alongside the written posts, sharing photos of Mohammed Suleiman Mansour Qishta, alongside tributes and prayers. Ahmad Qashta posted a video in commemoration.

Mohammed’s name matches an entry in the Palestinian Ministry of Health (MoH) lists, which include national ID numbers. Airwars is matching individuals to the first list where their name appeared. In regard to this incident, Mohammed was first listed in the eight ‘Palestinian Ministry of Health List of Fatalities in Gaza’ list, which was released on March 24, 2025.

Only two sources – The Qishta family inside and outside Facebook account and the Palestinian Ministry of Health in Gaza – attributed Mohammed’s death to an actor, but both attributed the strike to the Israeli military. The Qishta family inside and outside account described the strike as being carried out by Israeli aircraft. As such, the confidence grading regarding strike attribution (Strike status) has been recorded as ‘likely’. This will be updated should additional information become available.
