Palestinian Territories – The Palestinian Center for the Protection of Journalists (PJPC) condemns the premeditated murder of journalist Tamer al-Za'anin, a journalist working for the German Channel 4 and cooperating on documentary production.

According to preliminary testimonies collected by the center, al-Za'anin was killed by direct fire from an Israeli special forces unit in the Al-Mawasi area west of Khan Yunis, in the southern Gaza Strip. His colleague, Ibrahim Abu Ushaib, was injured.

The testimonies indicated that al-Za'anin and Abu Ushaib were accompanying the director of field hospitals in Gaza during the abduction, indicating the direct targeting of journalists working in the field, even while carrying out humanitarian documentation or medical escort duties.

The center affirms that this incident is part of a recurring pattern of systematic targeting of Palestinian journalists and calls for an urgent and independent international investigation.

وبحسب إفادات أولية جمعها المركز فإن الزعانين قتل برصاص مباشر أطلقته قوة إسرائيلية خاصة في منطقة المواصي غرب مدينة خانيونس، جنوب قطاع غزة، فيما أصيب زميله إبراهيم أبو عشيبة بجروح.

وأفادت الشهادات بأن الزعانين وأبو عشيبة كانا برفقة مدير المستشفيات الميدانية في غزة أثناء عملية اختطاف، ما يشير إلى استهداف مباشر للصحفيين العاملين ميدانيًا، حتى خلال قيامهم بمهام التوثيق الإنساني أو المرافقة الطبية.

يؤكد المركز أن هذه الحادثة تأتي في سياق نمط متكرر من الاستهداف المنهجي للصحفيين الفلسطينيين، مطالبًا بفتح تحقيق دولي عاجل ومستقل.
