Full name: Hossam Basel Shabat | حسام باسل شبات

• Reporter for Al Jazeera Mubasher and contributor to Drop Site News. He studied at the faculty of journalism at Palestine University.

• Killed in an Israeli airstrike targeting his car in the eastern part of Beit Lahia, North Gaza, where Hossam was reporting on Israel's assault.

• Israel had put Hossam on a kill list in October 2024 along with five other reporters from Gaza, baselessly claiming that they were affiliated with Hamas.

• Hossam was a key source of documentation of Israeli crimes and the dire living conditions of people in northern Gaza, particuarly in his hometown of Beit Hanoun. He was also deeply involved in organizing, promoting and actively contributing to charitable initiatives to alleviate the suffering of displaced families.
