Khaled al-Najjar, a freed prisoner deported to Gaza, succumbed to his wounds sustained during yesterday's Rafah massacre.
In late 2002, Khaled al-Najjar, known as "Asaker," was being interrogated at al-Maskubiya Prison for his participation in and leadership of a resistance cell. The operation killed 17 soldiers and settlers and wounded 25 others on Route 60, the settlement between Ramallah and Nablus.
The most significant of these operations was the Ein Yabrud operation, in which he and other resistance fighters killed three soldiers and confiscated their weapons before withdrawing.
Khaled's cell was the most sophisticated in the history of the West Bank for armed groups targeting settlers.
Khaled woke up to the guards asking him to come with them. They allowed him to shower, gave him new sportswear, and a comb to comb his hair.
Khaled was surprised by what was happening, and they took him into the room of the "major," the chief of investigation. All the investigators and their chief were sitting as if they were in a circular room, with two chairs, one facing the other.
Khaled was seated in his chair and shackled several times by the hands and feet, and previously with a chain to the floor.
General Shaul Mofaz, the then Chief of Staff of the Israeli occupation army, entered.
Khaled could not believe his eyes!! Mofaz stood up, saluted Khaled, and said, "Kol Kafod ya Khaled," meaning "All respect, Khaled." Anyone who knows Khaled knows he's a jokester. He said, "Shaul, what are you doing here?" Mofaz, in his military uniform, wanted to meet Khaled. He said, "I came to meet the person responsible for the Ein Yabrud operation." He said, "I have one question: What are the negative points you saw during your work against the occupation army throughout the period you worked against us?" Khaled asked. Ask me about the positive points!
Mofaz: "What concerns me are the negative points. I know the positive ones."
Khaled: "No, by God, don't ask me about the positive points."
Mofaz: "What are they?"
Khaled: "You don't have a single positive point. When we attacked your military positions, we were seeking death and martyrdom, and your soldiers were seeking life. And when your soldiers seek death, they will find life."
Mofaz: "Stop philosophizing. We will destroy your home, and your children will be displaced."
Khaled: "I'm not advising you. They're all just two brick rooms, they're not worth it. And when you destroy them, the neighborhood kids will grow up and become fiercer than me."
Khaled was released from prison in 2011 and continued his campaign against Israel from Gaza, until Israel killed him with missiles in the tents of the displaced, while he was feeding more than 4,000 displaced people and trying to secure their livelihood.

Note on the margin: During the Ein Yabroud operation On October 19, 2003, the soldiers were late arriving at the site of the operation, so Khaled went to reconnoiter. They caught him at a flying checkpoint and severely beat him because he wasn't carrying his ID. When he returned to the ambush and told his comrades, they laughed profusely at him until the soldiers arrived and opened fire on them. Khaled grabbed the soldier who had beaten him a few minutes earlier, put the muzzle of his Kalashnikov to his ass, and emptied two bullets into it before withdrawing. May God have mercy on Khaled. May God have mercy on Yassin Rabie, his comrade in resistance and martyrdom.

أهم تلك العمليات كانت عملية عين يبرود، التي استطاع فيها رفقة مقاومين اخرين من قتل 3 جنود، ومصادرة اسلحتهم قبل الانسحاب..
كانت خلية خالد، الأعقد في تاريخ الضفة الغربية للمجموعات المسلحة التي استهدفت المستوطنين..
استيقظ خالد على طلب السجانين منه القدوم معهم، سمحوا له بالاستحمام، وأعطوه ملابس رياضية جديدة ومشطا ليمشط شعره..
كان خالد مستغربا مما يحدث، وأدخلوه إلى غرفة "الميجر" رئيس التحقيق، فإذا بكل المحققين ورئيسهم يجلسون كأنهم في حصة دائرية، فيها كرسيان، واحد يواجه الآخر..
أُجلس خالد على كرسيه، وتم تكبيله مرات عديدة بالايدي والقدمين وما سبق بسلسلة الى الأرض..
دخل عليه الجنرال شاؤول موفاز، رئيس أركان جيش الاحتلال آنذاك..
خالد لم يصدق عينيه!!
وقف موفاز، وضرب تحية عسكرية لخالد... وقال له "كول كافود يا خالد" وتعني :"كل احترام يا خالد"..
من يعرف خالد، يعرف انه صاحب نكتة، وقال له :"شاااااؤوول، شو بتعمل هان"؟
موفاز ببدلته العسكرية، أراد مقابلة خالد، وقال له :"جئت لأقابل مسؤول عملية عين يبرود.. وقال له لدي سؤال واحد :
" ما هي النقاط السلبية التي شاهدتها خلال عملك ضد جيش الاحتلال طوال فترة عملك ضدنا"؟
قال خالد:"نقاط سلبية؟ اسالني عن نقاط ايجابية"!
موفاز :"ما يهمني هو النقاط السلبية، اعرف الايجابية"
خالد:"لا بالله تسألني عن النقاط الايجابية"..
موفاز:"ما هي"؟
خالد:" فش عندكم ولا نقطة ايجابية، عندما كنا نهاجم نقاطكم العسكرية، كنا نسعى للموت والشهادة، وكان جنودكم يسعون للحياة.. وعندما يسعى جنودكم للموت، راح يلاقو الحياة"..
موفاز:"سيبك من الفلسفة، راح نهد دارك، واولادك يتشردوا"
خالد:" ما بنصحك، كلهن غرفتين طوب مش مستاهلات، ولما تهدهم اولاد الحارة بس يكبروا بيطلعوا أشرس مني"..
خرج خالد من سجنه عام 2011 وأكمل مسيرته ضد إسرائيل من غزة.. إلى أن قتلته إسرائيل بالصواريخ في خيام النازحين، عندما كان يُطعم أكثر من 4 آلاف نازح ويسعى لتأمين قوتهم...

ملاحظة على الهامش: خلال عملية عين يبرود في 19 أكتوبر 2003، تأخر الجنود عن الوصول إلى مكان العملية، فذهب خالد لاستطلاع مكانهم، فمسكوه على حاجز طيّار.. وأبرحوه ضربا لأنه لم يكن يحمل هويته الشخصية..وعندما عاد إلى الكمين، وأخبر رفاقه ضحكو عليه كثيرا.. حتى وصل الجنود وأطلقوا عليهم النار..
خالد، أمسك الجندي الذي ضربه قبل دقائق قليل.. ووضع فوهة الكلاشينكوف بطيزه ، وأفرغ فيها باغتين قبل أن ينسحب.
