The Qatar Press Center condemns the assassination of Palestinian journalist Ola Al-Dahdouh

Doha - June 1:

Palestinian journalist and broadcaster Ola Al-Dahdouh was killed when the Israeli occupation forces bombed her home on Al-Jalaa Street in Gaza City.

Ola Al-Dahdouh was a broadcaster and presenter at the local Watan Radio in the Gaza Strip and had previously worked for other radio stations and media institutions.

The Qatar Press Center reiterates its condemnation of the Israeli occupation forces' targeting of journalists in Gaza with killing and abuse, most recently the assassination of Palestinian journalist and broadcaster Ola Al-Dahdouh.

The Center affirms that the Israeli army's targeting of journalists' homes and locations inside Gaza is a flagrant violation of international law and a heinous crime aimed at silencing the free media and obstructing it from conveying the truth to the world.

The Center condemns the continued Israeli occupation's clear policy of arresting and killing journalists in Gaza and the West Bank, aimed at concealing the genocidal massacres committed by Israel against civilians and preventing journalists from revealing the truth to the world.

The Center calls on the international community to condemn the targeting of journalists in Gaza through killing, arrest, and intimidation, and to work to release the detainees, both men and women, who are languishing in Israeli prisons under dire conditions that deny them the most basic rights of prisoners stipulated in international laws and conventions.

With the martyrdom of Ola Al-Dahdouh, the number of journalists killed since the beginning of the Israeli aggression on the Gaza Strip on October 7th has risen to 148.
International organizations have condemned the assassination of journalist Al-Dahdouh, asserting that Israel aims to silence media professionals and obscure the truth by targeting journalists and correspondents. They described these acts as "war crimes" that require the prosecution of those responsible before the International Court of Justice.

A few days ago, Reporters Without Borders announced that it had filed a third complaint with the International Court of Justice regarding the targeting of journalists in Gaza, following an initial complaint on October 31st and another on December 22nd.

It's worth noting that Ola graduated from the Faculty of Journalism and Public Relations at Al-Azhar University. She is married with one child and worked during the current war on Gaza, covering many of the bloody events taking place in the Strip.

The last thing our colleague Ola Al-Dahdouh wrote on social media before her martyrdom was: "Oh God, let the Day of Arafah not come without you stopping the war on Gaza, and let Eid not come without Gaza celebrating Eid."

المركز القطري للصحافة يدين اغتيال الصحفية الفلسطينية علا الدحدوح

استشهدت الصحفية والمذيعة الفلسطينية علا الدحدوح إثر قصف الاحتلال الإسرائيلي منزلها في شارع الجلاء بمدينة غزة.

عُلا الدحدوح مذيعة ومقدمة برامج في إذاعة وطن المحلية في القطاع، وسبق أن عملت في إذاعات ومؤسسات إعلامية أخرى.

ويجدد المركز القطري للصحافة إدانته لقيام قوات الاحتلال الإسرائيلية، باستهداف الصحفيين في غزة بالقتل والتنكيل، وآخرها اغتيال الصحفية والمذيعة الفلسطينية علا الدحدوح.    

ويؤكد المركز أن استهداف الجيش الإسرائيلي منازل الصحفيين ومواقع تمركزهم داخل غزة انتهاك صارخ للقانون الدولي وجريمة بشعة لإسكات الإعلام الحر وعرقلة نقله الحقيقة للعالم.
 
ويستنكر المركز استمرار الاحتلال الإسرائيلي، في انتهاج سياسة واضحة لاعتقال وقتل الصحفيين في غزة والضفة، لإخفاء مجازر الإبادة الجماعية التي ترتكبها إسرائيل بحقّ المدنيين، ومنع الإعلاميين من إظهار الحقيقة للعالم.

ويطالب المركز المجتمع الدولي بإدانة استهداف الصحفيين في غزة بالقتل والاعتقال والترهيب، والعمل على إطلاق سراح المعتقلين والمعتقلات منهم، القابعين في السجون الإسرائيلية في ظروف قاهرة تحرمهم من أبسط حقوق الأسرى التي نصت عليها القوانين والمواثيق الدولية.

وباستشهاد علا الدحدوح يرتفع عدد الشهداء من الصحفيين إلى 148 شهيدًا منذ بدء العدوان الإسرائيلي على قطاع غزة في السابع من أكتوبر الماضي.
وأعربت منظمات دولية عن إدانتها اغتيال الصحفية الدحدوح، مؤكدة أن إسرائيل تهدف إلى تكميم أفواه الإعلاميين، وحجب الحقيقة عبر استهداف الصحفيين والمراسلين، واصفة هذه الأعمال بأنها "جرائم حرب" تستوجب محاكمة مسؤوليها أمام المحكمة الدولية.

وقبل أيام أوضحت منظمة "مراسلون بلا حدود"، أنها تقدمت إلى محكمة العدل الدولية بثالث شكوى بشأن استهداف صحفيين في غزة بعد شكوى أولى في 31 أكتوبر، وأخرى في 22 ديسمبر الماضيين.

يذكر أن عُلا تخرجت في كلية الصحافة والعلاقات العامة من جامعة الأزهر، وهي متزوجة ولديها طفل واحد، وعملت خلال الحرب الحالية على غزة في تغطية كثير من الأحداث الدامية التي شهدها القطاع.

وآخر ما كتبته الزميلة علا الدحدوح عبر صفحات التواصل الاجتماعي قبل استشهادها: «اللهم لا تأتي وقفة عرفة إلا وقد أوقفت حرب غزة، ولا يأتي العيد وإلا غزة في عيد ».
