Ahmed Hamdi Abu Abasa (April 1, 1983 – December 13, 2023) is a Palestinian academic, born in Gaza City. He served as an assistant professor at the Faculty of Media and Information Technology at Palestine University and later as Dean of the Faculty of Applied Engineering.[1][2]

Ahmed Abu Abasa graduated from high school with honors in the science stream and enrolled in the Faculty of Engineering at the Islamic University of Gaza, earning a Bachelor's degree in Communications and Control Engineering in 2005. He then pursued a Master's degree in Computer Science in 2007 from the University of Virginia in the United States, and a Master's degree in Communications Engineering from the Islamic University of Gaza in 2012. He completed a PhD in Signal Processing Engineering from King Fahd University of Petroleum and Minerals in Saudi Arabia in 2018. He then joined Palestine University as an assistant professor and dean of the Faculty of Applied Engineering and Urban Planning, and director of the university's iBridge project, a project aimed at building the capacity of software engineering students, connecting them with the labor market, and improving software export opportunities to global markets.[3][4][5][6]
On December 13, 2023, he was assassinated by Israeli occupation forces with a shell after being released following his arrest from the "Holy Family" School in the Gaza Strip, during the Palestinian-Israeli war.

أنهى أحمد أبو عبسة الثانوية العامة بالفرع العلمي بتفوق ليلتحق بالجامعة الإسلامية في كلية الهندسة لينال بكالوريس هندسة الإتصالات والتحكم عام 2005، ودرجة الماجستير في علوم الحاسوب عام 2007 من جامعة فيرجينيا في الولايات المتحدة الأمريكية وماجستير في هندسة الإتصالات من الجامعة الإسلامية في غزة عام 2012، وأنهى درجة الدكتوراة في هندسة معالجة الإشارات من جامعة الملك فهد للبترول والمعادن في المملكة العربية السعودية عام 2018. ليلتحق بجامعة فلسطين أستاذاً مساعداً وعميد في كلية الهندسة التطبيقية والتخطيط العمراني، ومدير مشروع iBridge بالجامعة وهو مشروع يهدف لبناء قدرات طلبة برنامج هندسة البرمجيات وربطهم بسوق العمل وتحسين فرص تصدير البرمجيات الي الأسواق العالمية.[3][4][5][6]
في 13 ديسمبر 2023 اغتالته قوات الإحتلال الإسرائيلي بقذيفة عقب الإفراج عنه بعد اعتقاله من مدرسة "العائلة المقدسة" في قطاع غزة وذلك خلال الحرب الفلسطينية الإسرائيلية.
