US special forces, in coordination with the Syrian Interior Ministry, conducted a helicopter raid on the town of al-Dumayr in the Damascus countryside, resulting in the arrest of Ahmad Abdullah al-Masoud al-Badri, known for his affiliation with the Islamic State (ISIS).

Local sources reported that the raid, which took place several kilometers from Damascus, involved Syrian Interior Ministry counterterrorism forces alongside units from the international coalition, marking the first such operation in the area.

Reports indicate that al-Badri, a senior ISIS leader, had disappeared in the Syrian desert for years before returning to his hometown of al-Dumayr after the regime's control there weakened.

شنت القوات الخاصة الأميركية غارة بطائرة هليكوبتر على منطقة الضمير في ريف دمشق، بالتنسيق مع وزارة الداخلية السورية، أسفرت عن اعتقال أحمد عبد الله المسعود البدري، الذي يُعرف بانتمائه إلى تنظيم الدولة (داعش).
وذكرت مصادر محلية أن الغارة، التي جرت على بعد عدة كيلومترات من دمشق، شهدت مشاركة عناصر من قوات مكافحة الإرهاب التابعة لوزارة الداخلية السورية، إلى جانب وحدات من التحالف الدولي، في عملية إنزال هي الأولى من نوعها في المنطقة.
وأفادت التسريبات بأن البدري، وهو أحد قياديي تنظيم الدولة، كان قد اختفى في البادية الشامية لسنوات، قبل أن يعود إلى مدينته الضمير بعد تراجع قبضة النظام المخلوع هناك.
