Hawar News Agency correspondent Jihan Bilkin was killed yesterday in a drone strike while covering Turkish occupation attacks targeting the Tishrin Dam and the Qaraquzak Bridge south of Kobani.

Who was Jihan Bilkin?

- Jihan Mohammed Nesin Bilkin was born and raised in Midyat, in the Mardin region of northern Kurdistan. She moved to Amed (Diyarbakir) in 2013 to study law.

- In 2014, she began working in media alongside her law studies, distributing newspapers published by the independent media outlets Özgür Gündem and Azadiya Welat.

- Due to harassment by the authorities and influenced by the July 19, 2012 revolution in North and East Syria, she moved to Rojava in mid-2017 and joined Hawar News Agency.

- She participated in the Raqqa liberation campaign and, during her coverage, was able to highlight the struggle waged by the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) and the Women's Protection Units (YPJ) during that period.

- She prepared dozens of reports and features on the policies of the Turkish occupation state against the Kurds, in addition to reports on the women's struggle.

- She documented the Turkish occupation attacks on Kobani and Ras al-Ayn on October 9, 2019. - She contributed to covering the campaigns launched by the Internal Security Forces (Asayish), the SDF, and the YPJ against ISIS cells throughout the region and in al-Hol camp. - On December 6th, she went to the Tabqa district to monitor the situation of displaced people from the Afrin and Shahba districts.

- After the Turkish occupation state and its mercenaries intensified their attacks on Manbij, the Qaraquzaq Bridge, and the Tishrin Dam south of Kobani, she decided to convey the resistance shown by the fighters of the Manbij Military Council to the public.

- She continued her work until the last moments before she and journalist Nazim Dashtan were targeted by a drone on the Tishrin Dam-Sarrin road, at 3:20 PM on December 19th, while returning home. They were both martyred.

- What made me persevere in my work was that we are not alone; there is an entire people behind us with aspirations and hopes.

- There is a just and righteous cause, and it is a source of pride for everyone to highlight this cause and this people.

- During my work in North and East Syria, I met many wonderful people. The land of Rojava is of great value to me.

- To my dear colleagues, we must recognize the reality of what is happening on the ground.

استــ*ـشهدت مراسلة وكالة أنباء هاوار #جيهان_بلكين يوم أمس إثر تعرضها لهجــ*ـوم عبر طائرة مسيرة خلال متابعتها لهجــ*ـمات الاحتــ*ـلال التــــ*ـركي التي تستهدف سد تشرين وجسر قرقوزاق جنوبي #كوباني.
من هي جيهان بلكين؟
- نشأت جيهان محمد نسين بلكين في كنف أسرة بمدينة مدياد في منطقة ميردين بشمال كردستان. انتقلت إلى مدينة آمد لدراسة الحقوق عام 2013.
- في عام 2014، انخرطت في مجال الإعلام إلى جانب دراستها في كلية الحقوق، حيث بدأت بتوزيع الصحف التي كانت تصدر من قبل الإعلام الحر، (أوزكور كوندم) و(آزاديا ولات).
- نتيجة للمضـــ*ـايقات التي تعرضت لها من قبل الســـ*ـلطات وتأثرها بثـــ*ـورة 19 تموز 2012 في شمال وشرق سوريا، توجهت إلى روج آفا منتصف عام 2017، واتخذت مكانها ضمن وكالة أنباء هاوار.
- شاركت في حملة تحرير مدينة الرقة وتمكنت خلال تغطيتها للحملة من تسليط الضوء بشكل لافت على النضال الذي خاضته قوات سوريا الديمقراطية ووحدات حماية المرأة في تلك الفترة.
- أعدّت العشرات من التقارير والملفات المتعلقة بســ*ـياسة دولة الاحتـــ*لال التـــ*ركي ضد الكرد ناهيك عن الملفات المتعلقة بنضال المرأة.
- رصدت هجـــ*ـمات الاحتـــ*لال التـــ*ركي على كري سبي وسري كانيه في الـ 9 من تشرين الأول عام 2019.
- ساهمت في تغطية الحملات التي أطلقتها قــ*ـوى الأمــ*ن الداخلي وقــ*وات سوريا الديمقراطية ووحدات حماية المرأة ضد خلايا داعـــ*ش في عموم المنطقة ومخيم الهول.
- توجهت في الـ 6 من كانون الأول إلى مقاطعة الطبقة، لرصد حال النازحين من مقاطعة عفرين والشهباء.
- بعد تكثيف دولة الاحتـــ*لال التــ*ركي ومرتـــ*زقتها لهجـــ*ماتهم على منبج وجسر قرقوزاق وسد تشرين جنوب كوباني، ارتأت نقل المـــ*قاومة التي يبديها مقـــ*اتلو قوات مجلس منبج العســـ*كري للرأي العام.
- ظلت مواظبة على عملها حتى اللحظات الأخيرة قبل استــ*ـهدافها برفقة الصحفي ناظم داشتان بطائرة مسيّرة على طريق سد تشرين- صرين، أثناء عودتهما في تمام الساعة الـ 15.20، يوم الـ 19 من كانون الأول وارتقيا إلى مرتبة الشــ*هادة.
البعض مما قالته جيهان بلكين:
- إن ما جعلني أثابر في عملي هو أننا لسنا وحدنا، هناك شعب كامل يقف خلفنا لديه طموحات وآمال.
- هناك قضية عادلة ومحقة ومحل فخر لكل شخص أن يسلط الضوء على هذه القضية وهذا الشعب.
- خلال عملي في شمال وشرق سوريا، تعرفت على أشخاص رائعين كثر، تراب روج آفا ذو قيمة عظيمة لدي.
- إلى زملائي الأعزاء يجب أن ندرك حقيقة ما يجري على أرض الواقع.
