The Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) announced the arrest of a senior ISIS commander in Raqqa. They stated that their forces, with support from the international coalition, conducted a precise security operation in the city of Tabqa, culminating in the arrest of Raafat Rahmoun, the group's military commander for the Hasakah and Deir ez-Zor governorates. He is considered the mastermind behind attacks on northeastern Syria and maintains direct contact with senior ISIS leaders.

The SDF reported that the commander confessed to receiving instructions to carry out terrorist attacks during this year's Nowruz celebrations and revealed the existence of ISIS cells operating in the Jazeera region and Damascus.
