#Deir_ez-Zor | Airborne operation and arrest of a mosque imam in the north of the province

This morning, the International Coalition forces conducted an airborne operation in the town of Al-Azba, north of #Deir_ez-Zor, resulting in the arrest of Sheikh Muhaysin al-Darwish (known as Abu Anoud), the imam and preacher of a local mosque, along with his ten-year-old son and his brother, Ahmed Muhaysin al-Darwish.

According to local sources, the arrest was due to a sermon the sheikh delivered a few days ago, which is believed to have contained content that displeased the SDF militias.

It is worth noting that Sheikh Muhaysin al-Darwish is from the village of Marat, located in the eastern Deir ez-Zor countryside.

نفذت قوات التحالف الدولي فجر اليوم عملية إنزال جوي في بلدة العزبة شمال #ديرالزور، أسفرت عن اعتقال الشيخ محيسن الدرويش (المعروف بأبي عنود)، إمام وخطيب أحد مساجد المنطقة، وذلك برفقة طفله البالغ من العمر عشرة أعوام وشقيقه أحمد محيسن الدرويش.

ووفقاً لمصادر محلية، فإن عملية الاعتقال جاءت على خلفية خطبة ألقاها الشيخ قبل أيام، ويُعتقد أنها احتوت مضامين أثارت استياءميليشيات (#قسد)".

يُشار إلى أن الشيخ محيسن الدرويش ينحدر من قرية مراط الواقعة في ريف دير الزور الشرقي.
