Iran denied any Iranian casualties in the Israeli strike on Damascus on the night of October 8, but it is certain that a number of civilians were killed and wounded. Israel targeted a crowded residential building in the Mezzeh neighborhood of Damascus with three missiles, resulting in seven deaths and dozens of injuries, according to the Syrian regime's news agency, SANA.

The New York Times, citing Israeli officials, reported that the target of yesterday's strike was a Hezbollah commander responsible for arms smuggling.

Israeli strikes in Syria have escalated over the past two weeks, coinciding with Israel's escalation in Lebanon under the pretext of targeting Iranian and Hezbollah leaders. However, the figures show that most of the victims are civilians.

وتصاعدت الاستهدافات الإسرائيلية في سوريا خلال الأسبوعين الماضيين تزامناً مع التصعيد الإسرائيلي على لبنان بحجة استهداف شخصيات قيادية إيرانية ومن "حــزب الله"، لكن الأرقام تُظهر أن معظم الضحايا مدنيون.
