The Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) announced on Wednesday that 12 people, including civilians and fighters, were killed in Turkish airstrikes on northeastern Syria.

In a statement, the SDF said, "A squadron of Turkish warplanes attacked several areas in the al-Ruwaished desert, in the al-Shaddadi region, south of al-Hasakah, at 3:00 PM today, Wednesday."

The statement added, "The Turkish airstrikes targeted a military position of our forces, as well as residential homes of civilian workers. They also targeted a civilian vehicle carrying shepherds on the al-Kharfi road connecting Deir ez-Zor and al-Hasakah, launching more than 16 airstrikes on the area."

The statement continued, saying that the airstrikes resulted in the deaths of "four fighters, six civilian workers, and two shepherds."

وأضافت: "استهدف طيران التركي في غاراته نقطة عسكرية لقواتنا، إضافة إلى منازل سكنية لعمال مدنيين، وكذلك استهدف سيارة مدنية كانت تقل رعاة للغنم على طريق الخرافي الواصل بين دير الزور والحسكة، حيث شن أكثر من 16 غارة جوية على المنطقة".

وتابعت أن الغارات أدت إلى مقتل "4 من المقاتلين، و6 عمال مدنيين، إضافة إلى اثنين من رعاة الغنم".
