Two people were killed and another wounded during a raid carried out by the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF), under air cover from the international coalition, in the town of Dhiban, in the Mayadin district of Deir ez-Zor province, eastern Syria, on Sunday morning. The operation came two days after a similar raid in the town of Daranj, also in the province, which resulted in the arrest of nine people.
Private sources close to the SDF told Al-Araby Al-Jadeed that the operation took place at dawn on Sunday, with air support from the international coalition, as part of a campaign to pursue suspected ISIS members in Dhiban. During the operation, Ghanem al-Sabouh and his son, Ma'moun, were killed. The SDF also arrested at least three other people and transferred the detainees and the bodies of the two men to the al-Omar oil field base in the eastern part of the province. The SDF has intensified security operations targeting, as it claims, ISIS cells in areas under its control in northeastern Syria, while the US Central Command said in a statement issued on Wednesday that its forces and partners have carried out about 80 military and security operations in Syria since last July, aimed at eliminating ISIS elements, as part of efforts to prevent the organization from reorganizing its ranks and launching attacks inside or outside the country.

قُتل شخصان وأُصيب آخر، خلال عملية دهم نفذتها "قوات سوريا الديمقراطية" (قسد) تحت غطاء جوي من طيران التحالف الدولي في بلدة ذيبان، التابعة لناحية الميادين في ريف محافظة دير الزور، شرقي سورية، صباح اليوم الأحد. وجاءت العملية بعد يومين من عملية مماثلة جرت في بلدة درنج بريف المحافظة، أسفرت عن اعتقال 9 أشخاص.
وأوضحت مصادر خاصة مقربة من "قسد" لـ"العربي الجديد"، أن العملية جرت فجر اليوم بغطاء من التحالف الدولي، في إطار ملاحقة عناصر يشتبه بانتمائهم لتنظيم داعش ضمن بلدة ذيبان، وخلال العملية قُتل كل من غنام الصبوح وابنه مأمون، كما اعتقلت قوات "قسد" 3 أشخاص على الأقل، ونقلت المعتقلين وجثتَي القتيلَين إلى قاعدة حقل العمر النفطي شرقي المحافظة. وكثفت "قسد" العمليات الأمنية التي تستهدف، حسب زعمها، خلايا تنظيم داعش في مناطق سيطرتها شمال شرقي سورية، في حين قالت القيادة الوسطى الأميركية، في بيان صدر الأربعاء، إن قواتها وشركاءها نفذوا منذ شهر يوليو/ تموز الماضي نحو 80 عملية عسكرية وأمنية في سورية، استهدفت القضاء على عناصر من تنظيم داعش، في إطار الجهود الرامية إلى منع التنظيم من إعادة تنظيم صفوفه، وشنّ هجمات داخل البلاد أو خارجها.
