The road to Majdal Zoun, under the constant shadow of Israeli fighter jets and drones, winds between two rows of destroyed buildings, stretching from the Al-Mashaa neighborhood on the outskirts of Al-Mansouri to the edge of Majdal Zoun. Massive piles of rubble and devastation culminate at the Husseiniya, the cemetery, and the Martyrs' Garden. The destruction of most homes, coupled with power and water outages, has left residents unable to remain. Those who resisted were besieged by artillery shelling and strafing fire on the outskirts, culminating in a drone strike that targeted a Rapid car in the middle of the street, in broad daylight. Abbas Kassab, who had believed in the ceasefire, returned with his family to his town to resume work at his bakery. While his seven-year-old son, Ali, was playing near the car in front of the bakery, the drone fired a missile at the Rapid, injuring him and requiring his transfer to a Beirut hospital.

الطريق إلى مجدل زون في ظل المقاتلات والمُسيّرات الإسرائيلية يمر بين صفّين متراصّين من الأبنية المدمّرة بدءاً من حي المشاع في أطراف المنصوري وصولاً إلى أطراف مجدل زون. كتل ضخمة من الركام والخراب تبلغ ذروتها في مبنى الحسينية والجبانة وروضة الشهداء. تدمير غالبية المنازل، وانقطاع الكهرباء والمياه منعا الأهالي من البقاء. ومن «عاند»، حاصره القصف المدفعي والتمشيط الناري على الأطراف، وصولاً إلى تنفيذ غارة من مُسيّرة استهدفت سيارة من نوع «رابيد» في وسط الشارع في وضح النار. عبّاس كساب الذي صدّق وقف إطلاق النار، عاد مع عائلته إلى بلدته لاستئناف العمل في الفرن الذي يملكه. فيما كان طفله علي (7 سنوات) يلهو قرب السيارة أمام الفرن، أطلقت المُسيّرة صاروخاً على الرابيد، ما أدى إلى إصابته بجروح استلزمت نقله إلى أحد مستشفيات بيروت.
