The head of the Lebanese Press Editors Syndicate, Joseph Qassifi, condemned the Israeli occupation forces' shooting of a group of journalists and reporters in the town of Khiam. Associated Press correspondent Mohammed Zaatari and Sputnik correspondent Abdel Qader Al-Bay sustained various injuries, requiring their transfer to Marjeyoun Hospital for treatment.
He asserted that this reprehensible incident is part of a series of crimes committed by Israel against Lebanese journalists, media professionals, and photographers since October 8, 2023, resulting in the deaths of more than twelve of them, in addition to dozens who suffered permanent disabilities or serious injuries.
We bring this incident to the attention of the international community, human rights organizations, the International Criminal Court, the International Federation of Journalists, and the General Union of Arab Journalists, to demonstrate the extent of Israel's disregard for international laws and conventions, and its violation of the most basic principles, including the prohibition of targeting journalists in war zones and conflict areas. What happened to the group of journalists and media professionals, especially to our colleagues Al-Zaatari and Al-Bay, constitutes the first violation of the ceasefire agreement.
Al-Qasifi concluded by reiterating his condemnation and denunciation of the incident, on behalf of the Press Syndicate and its council, wishing the injured a speedy recovery.

The Islamic Media Authority condemned the Zionist enemy's shooting at journalists in Khiam, which resulted in injuries to Associated Press correspondent Mohammed Al-Zaatari and Sputnik correspondent Abdul Qader Al-Bay.
In its statement, the Authority asserted that the Zionist enemy has become accustomed to acting with impunity, disregarding all laws protecting journalists while covering events and wars, and to escaping any deterrent punishment for its arrogance and hatred.
The Authority expressed its hope that our colleagues Al-Zaatari and Al-Bay would recover and be able to return to their work as soon as possible. The organization indicated its intention to prepare a file documenting the Zionist crimes committed in Lebanon and Gaza against journalists and media institutions, in order to pursue and prosecute the perpetrators before the competent international courts.
The organization congratulated the Lebanese people on achieving a ceasefire and commended the swift return of displaced citizens to their homes and their steadfastness on their land despite the immense destruction and suffering. It also expressed its gratitude to all honorable journalists and media institutions that fulfilled their duty throughout the Zionist war on Lebanon and Gaza, successfully exposing the enemy, revealing its crimes, and documenting them around the clock.
It affirmed that honorable journalists are partners of the resistance in achieving victory, liberation, and defeating the enemy.

ذكرت مواقع تواصل إجتماعي أن عددا من الإعلاميين أصيبوا بشظايا رصاص إسرائيلي في بلدة الخيام في الجنوب اللبناني. ومن بين المصابين الزميل محمد الزعتري مراسل وكالة أسوشتيتد برس الذي أصيب في فخذه ونقل إلى المستشفى للعلاج، وكذلك الزميل عبدالقادر الباي (مراسل سبوتنيك) وإصابته طفيفة.
وكان أحد الزملاء الإعلاميين نشر فيديو مشيرا إلى إصابة الزميل محمد الزعتري والزميل علي حشيشو الذي أكد لنا عدم تعرضه للإصابة ومطمئنا الجميع .

*استنكر نقيب محرري الصحافة اللبنانية جوزف القصيفي إقدام جنودالاحتلال الصهيوني على إطلاق النار على مجموعة من الصحافيين والمراسلين في بلدة الخيام، فاصيب كل مراسل " الاسوشيتد برس" الزميل محمد الزعتري ومراسل " سبوتنيك" عبد القادر الباي بجراح مختلفة ، استوجبت نقلهما إلى مستشفى مرجعيون للمعالجة.إ
ورأى أن هذه الحادثة المدانة لا تنفصل عن سلسلة الجرائم التي ارتكبتها إسرائيل في حق الصحافيين والاعلاميين والمصورين اللبنانيين منذ الثامن من تشرين 2023 حتى اليوم وكان من نتائجها الدامية إرتقاء ما يزيد على اثني عشر منهم ، عدا العشرات الذين اصيبوا باعاقات دائمة او جراح بليغة.

وأملت الهيئة أن يتعافى الزميلان الزعتري والباي ليتمكنا من العودة إلى عملهما في أسرع وقت.
