Several members of a civilian family were killed in the early hours of Tuesday, December 23, in the town of Jadida Kahit, east of Raqqa, during a raid by the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF). The incident sparked concern and tension among local residents, amid the absence of any official explanation regarding the circumstances.

According to local sources, the operation resulted in the deaths of two men and an elderly woman from the same family. The victims' bodies were removed from the town following the incident, coinciding with the overflight of coalition aircraft in the area.

The sources reported that the victims worked in civilian professions within the town and had no known connection to military or security activities, further fueling resentment among the residents.

Local accounts also circulating suggest that one of the family members remains detained by the SDF. These accounts speculate that the incident may be related to the pursuit of a family member wanted in connection with previous events in the al-Karama district last year. However, these accounts have not been confirmed by any official source.

Later, the bodies of the victims were handed over to a local dignitary in the Al-Karama district, in preparation for their burial, according to witnesses from the local community.

قُتل عدد من أفراد عائلة مدنية فجر يوم الثلاثاء 23 كانون الأول/ ديسمبر، في بلدة جديدة كحيط الواقعة شرق مدينة الرقة، إثر مداهمة نفذتها قوات قسد، في حادثة أثارت حالة من القلق والتوتر بين السكان المحليين، وسط غياب أي توضيح رسمي حول ملابسات ما جرى.


وبحسب مصادر محلية، أسفرت العملية عن مقتل رجلين وامرأة مسنّة من العائلة نفسها، حيث جرى نقل جثامين الضحايا خارج البلدة عقب الحادثة، بالتزامن مع تحليق لطيران تابع للتحالف الدولي في أجواء المنطقة.


وأفادت المصادر بأن الضحايا يعملون في مهن مدنية داخل البلدة، ولم تُعرف عنهم أي صلة بنشاطات عسكرية أو أمنية، ما زاد من حالة الاستياء في أوساط الأهالي.


كما أشارت روايات محلية متداولة إلى أن أحد أبناء العائلة لا يزال موقوفًا لدى قوات قسد، مرجحةً أن تكون الحادثة مرتبطة بملاحقة أحد أقارب العائلة المطلوبين على خلفية أحداث سابقة شهدتها ناحية الكرامة خلال العام الماضي، إلا أن هذه الروايات لم تؤكد من أي جهة رسمية.


وفي وقت لاحق، تم تسليم جثامين الضحايا إلى أحد وجهاء المنطقة في ناحية الكرامة، تمهيدًا لدفنهم، وفق ما أفاد به شهود من الأهالي.
