A man and his mother were killed during a raid by the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) on a house in the town of Jadida Kheit, east of Raqqa, according to a report by Nahar Media.

Our reporter said that an SDF military patrol, supported by coalition aircraft, raided the home of Jassim al-Laji after midnight, intending to arrest one of his sons, Ahmed. However, they did not find him and opened fire on the homeowner, killing him and his mother, Fatima al-Battal. They also arrested his son, Ibrahim, before leaving the area.

Local sources told Nahar Media that the SDF was seeking to arrest Ahmed al-Laji because of his previous participation in a popular movement against them in the al-Karama area, before he moved to areas under Syrian government control and joined the Ministry of Defense.

The SDF committed a similar killing last Sunday during a raid in the town of Dhiban, east of Deir ez-Zor, which resulted in the deaths of three civilians.

قُتل رجل ووالدته خلال مداهمة نفذتها قوات سوريا الديمقراطية (قسد) على منزل في بلدة جديدة كحيط شرقي الرقة، بحسب ما أفاد مراسل “نهر ميديا”.

وقال مراسلنا إن دورية عسكرية تابعة لـ”قسد”، ومدعومة بطائرات التحالف الدولي، داهمت بعد منتصف الليل منزل جاسم اللجي بغية اعتقال أحد أبنائه، أحمد، إلا أنها لم تعثر عليه، وأطلقت النار على صاحب المنزل، ما أدى إلى مقتله ومقتل والدته فاطمة البتال. كما اعتقلت نجله إبراهيم، قبل أن تغادر المكان.

وقالت مصادر محلية لـ”نهر ميديا” إن “قسد” كانت تسعى لاعتقال الشاب أحمد اللجي بسبب مشاركته سابقًا في حراك شعبي مناهض لها في منطقة الكرامة، قبل أن ينتقل إلى مناطق سيطرة الحكومة السورية، وينضم إلى عناصر وزارة الدفاع.

وكانت “قسد” قد ارتكبت حادثة قتل مشابهة يوم الأحد الماضي، خلال حملة مداهمات نفذتها في بلدة ذيبان شرقي دير الزور، أسفرت عن مقتل ثلاثة مدنيين
