Statement issued by the Farroukh family condemning the arrest of their son, Abdullah Khader Farroukh, and appealing to human rights organizations

The Farroukh family strongly condemns the arrest of their young son, Abdullah Khader Farroukh, aged sixteen, by the PYD militia. This occurred after a raid on the home of his grandfather, Mr. Nasser Ahmed Farroukh, in the village of Al-Tuwaina, north of Al-Hasakah, on Tuesday, March 25, 2025.

We affirm that the false accusations leveled against our son by the militia, alleging affiliation with ISIS, are baseless and mere fabrications intended solely to justify this arbitrary arrest. We further clarify that the true reason behind Abdullah's arrest is his exercise of his right to freedom of expression by posting a comment on Facebook expressing his support for the Syrian state, a right guaranteed by international law and human rights.

The militia's display of a photo of our son blindfolded, surrounded by mobile phones and a home router confiscated from his grandfather's house, and their claim that these items were used for "terrorist" purposes, is clear evidence of fabricated charges and a deliberate distortion of the facts. We affirm that the confiscated phones belong to Abdullah, his grandfather, and his grandmother, and there is no evidence whatsoever that they were used in any illegal activities.

We share the deep concern of the people of the region regarding the continued fabrication of charges against civilians and the violation of the rights of members of Arab tribes in the areas under the control of the PYD militia, in blatant disregard of agreements made with the Syrian state. It appears that this militia seeks, through these practices, to create instability and intimidate the population.

Therefore, we, the Farroukh family, declare the following:

1- Our strong condemnation of this arbitrary and unlawful arrest of our minor son, Abdullah Khader Farroukh.

2- Our immediate and unconditional demand for the release of our son, Abdullah, and his return to his family to resume his studies. 3. We appeal to all local and international human rights and humanitarian organizations to intervene urgently and pressure the PYD militia to cease these violations and release our son and all those arbitrarily detained.

4. We call upon the Syrian state and relevant authorities to fulfill their duty to protect civilians and ensure the implementation of signed agreements, and to intervene immediately to release Abdullah and all residents of the region who are subjected to such repressive practices.

We hold the PYD militia fully responsible for our son's safety and demand that his rights be guaranteed and that he not be subjected to any form of harm or ill-treatment.

بيان صادر عن عائلة الفروخ للتنديد باعتقال ابنها عبد الله خضر الفروخ ومناشدة المنظمات الحقوقية

تستنكر عائلة الفروخ بأشد العبارات قيام ميليشيا “ب ي د” باعتقال ابنها الشاب اليافع عبد الله خضر الفروخ البالغ من العمر ستة عشر عاماً، وذلك بعد مداهمة منزل جده السيد ناصر أحمد الفروخ في قرية التوينة شمالي الحسكة يوم أمس الثلاثاء الموافق 25 مارس 2025.
إننا نؤكد بأن التهم الباطلة التي وجهتها الميليشيا لابننا بالانتساب لتنظيم داعش لا أساس لها من الصحة ومجرد افتراءات لا تهدف إلا لتبرير هذا الاعتقال التعسفي. كما نوضح بأن السبب الحقيقي وراء اعتقال عبد الله يعود إلى ممارسته حقه في التعبير عن رأيه وكتابة تعليق على موقع “فيسبوك” أبدى فيه تأييده للدولة السورية، وهو أمر يكفله القانون الدولي وحقوق الإنسان.
إن قيام الميليشيا بعرض صورة لابننا وهو معصوب العينين وبجانبه هواتف محمولة وجهاز “راوتر منزلي” تم مصادرتها من منزل جده، والادعاء بأنها معدات تستخدم لأغراض “إرهابية”، لهو دليل واضح على تلفيق التهم والتشويه المتعمد للحقائق. ونؤكد بأن الهواتف المصادرة تعود ملكيتها لعبد الله وجده وجدته، ولا يوجد أي دليل على استخدامها في أي أنشطة غير قانونية.



إننا نشارك أهالي المنطقة قلقهم العميق إزاء استمرار ميليشيا “ب ي د” في تلفيق التهم للمدنيين وانتهاك حقوق أبناء العشائر العربية في مناطق سيطرتها، ضاربة عرض الحائط بالاتفاقات المبرمة مع الدولة السورية. ويبدو أن هذه الميليشيا تسعى من خلال هذه الممارسات إلى خلق حالة من عدم الاستقرار وترهيب الأهالي.
وعليه، فإننا نحن عائلة الفروخ نعلن ما يلي:
1- إدانتنا الشديدة لهذا الاعتقال التعسفي والمخالف للقانون بحق ابننا القاصر عبد الله خضر الفروخ.
2- مطالبتنا الفورية بالإفراج غير المشروط عن ابننا عبد الله وتمكينه من العودة إلى كنف عائلته ومتابعة دراسته.
3- مناشدتنا لكافة المنظمات الحقوقية والإنسانية المحلية والدولية للتدخل العاجل والضغط على ميليشيا “ب ي د” للكف عن هذه الانتهاكات وإطلاق سراح ابننا وكافة المعتقلين تعسفياً.
4- دعوتنا للدولة السورية والجهات المعنية للقيام بواجبها في حماية المدنيين وضمان تطبيق الاتفاقات المبرمة، والتدخل الفوري للإفراج عن عبد الله وكافة أبناء المنطقة الذين يتعرضون لمثل هذه الممارسات القمعية.
إننا نحمل ميليشيا “ب ي د” المسؤولية الكاملة عن سلامة ابننا ونطالب بضمان حقوقه وعدم تعرضه لأي شكل من أشكال الإيذاء أو سوء المعاملة.
