Close confidant reports indicate that airstrikes occurred in the town of Nur Dugle and its surrounding areas after Al-Shabaab fighters reportedly launched an attack that began with explosions early this morning.
Local residents have reported hearing the sounds of bombings and sporadic gunfire, with the conflict leading to casualties, including both deaths and injuries.
The Danab Special forces of the Somali National Army and organised local forces known as Macawisley militias engaged in combat with Al-Shabaab members who reportedly initiated the assault.
The situation in Nur Dugle reportedly remains tense as government troops work to secure the area.
As of now, neither the Somali government nor the Hirshabelle administration has commented on the explosive attack that unfolded in Middle Shabelle.
