Somalia’s National Intelligence and Security Agency (NISA), with support from international partners, has carried out a major security operation targeting a location where senior Al-Shabaab leaders were reportedly meeting in Bu’aale district, Middle Juba region, southern Somalia.
Security sources said the operation “struck a house inside Bu’aale town, a long-standing stronghold of the militant group and the administrative center of Al-Shabaab in Middle Juba” . The region remains entirely under the group’s control and is considered one of its most important operational and command hubs.
Officials indicated that the targeted site was hosting a high-level gathering of Al-Shabaab leaders, making the strike a significant part of ongoing efforts to disrupt the group’s leadership and operational planning. However, authorities have not yet released official information regarding casualties or the identities of those affected.
The operation forms part of an intensified campaign by Somali security agencies, working alongside international partners, to weaken Al-Shabaab’s command structure and degrade its ability to coordinate attacks from its primary hideouts.
Somalia’s federal government has repeatedly stated its commitment to sustaining military and intelligence pressure on the militant group as part of broader efforts to restore security and stability across the country.
