The Saudi Civil Defense Directorate announced on Sunday that a military projectile struck a residential area in Al-Kharj Governorate, killing two people and injuring 12 others, in addition to causing material damage.

The Civil Defense spokesperson stated that the projectile landed on a residential compound belonging to a maintenance and cleaning company in the governorate, located south of the capital, Riyadh.

He explained that the incident resulted in the deaths of two people, one of Indian and one of Bangladeshi nationality, and injured 12 Bangladeshi residents. He confirmed that the relevant authorities responded to the scene and took the necessary measures.

The spokesperson emphasized that targeting civilian areas constitutes a flagrant violation of international humanitarian law, adding that the procedures established for such incidents were implemented.

Saudi authorities did not provide further details regarding the source of the projectile or the circumstances of the incident.

وأوضح أن الحادث أسفر عن مقتل شخصين من الجنسيتين الهندية والبنغلاديشية، إضافة إلى إصابة 12 مقيماً من الجنسية البنغلاديشية، مؤكداً أن الجهات المختصة باشرت التعامل مع الموقع واتخاذ الإجراءات اللازمة.
وشدد المتحدث على أن استهداف الأحياء المدنية يعد انتهاكاً صارخاً للقانون الدولي الإنساني، مضيفاً أنه تم تنفيذ الإجراءات المعتمدة في مثل هذه الحالات.
