ABU DHABI: A fourth Pakistani national has died in the United Arab Emirates after missile debris struck an area in Abu Dhabi, with arrangements under way to repatriate the body to Pakistan for burial, officials said on Thursday.
The incident took place on Sweihan Street, a mixed residential and industrial area in the northeastern part of the city, after debris fell following the interception of a ballistic missile by air defence systems.
The Embassy of Pakistan in Abu Dhabi said it was coordinating with UAE authorities to support the family and facilitate repatriation of the deceased.
Authorities in the UAE confirmed that an Indian national was also killed in the incident, while three others — from the UAE, Jordan and India — sustained injuries ranging from moderate to serious.
Earlier incidents in Dubai and other areas of Abu Dhabi had resulted in the deaths of three Pakistani nationals, bringing the total number of fatalities to four amid ongoing regional tensions involving Iran.
