Kuwait mourns Indian electrician slain in attack on power, desalination plant
KUWAIT: An Indian worker was killed in an Iranian attack on a power and water desalination plant in Kuwait, the ministry of electricity, water and renewable energy announced. It said a service building at the plant was hit in a "heinous Iranian attack”, resulting in the death of the Indian worker, identified as 37-year-old Santhanaselvam Krishnan from Tamil Nadu. Ministry Spokesperson Fatima Jawhar Hayat said technical and emergency teams were deployed immediately in line with approved contingency plans to contain the impact and maintain operational efficiency. Coordination is ongoing with security and relevant authorities to secure affected sites.

Santhanaselvam, from Anikurunthan village near Mudukulathur in Ramanathapuram district, had been working as an electrician in an engineering trading and contracting firm in Kuwait for over a decade. He is survived by his wife, Kousalya, and two children.

The Embassy of India in Kuwait expressed deep condolences over his death and said it is coordinating closely with Kuwaiti authorities to provide support and facilitate the repatriation of the body. Indian Ambassador Paramita Tripathi visited the central mortuary and met Director General of the General Department of Criminal Evidence Brig Abdulrahim Al-Awadhi to thank officials for their prompt and compassionate assistance. The embassy is in contact with the victim’s family.
