The reputed house of Rahmat Jahan, situated in an abandoned Afghan refugee camp in Miram Shah, north Waziristan, was attacked killing four or five five militants while wounding two others.

Residents, quoted by Dawn, said that they had heard four explosions and seen Predator drones flying over the area, and that two missiles had struck Jahan’s house.

While most reported only to ‘people’ killed, Dawn cited residents and local intelligence officials as saying that those killed were militants:

“An intelligence official said five militants were killed in the attack on a house in a shanty neighbourhood known as Machis Colony. There were foreigners also among those killed and their number and nationality had not yet been ascertained, he said. “The mud-walled house has long been used by the guests as their abode,” he said, referring to the term used for the militants in the tribal areas.”

However, it remained unclear whether the two reported injured also were militants.

A day earlier, Pakistan’s foreign ministry spokesman accused the US of ‘helping the terrorists’ by destabilising Pakistan’s tribal areas.

Though all sources blamed US drones, the US has – as of now – not confirmed its involvement.
