An alleged US-waged drone strike took place on a house adjacent to the bazaar in Chashma, north Waziristan, killing up to three people – all possibly civilians, even some children and/or women, local and international media reported.
Two or three people were killed, reported as “locals,” “tribesmen” or by as “civilians”.
Fore example, without specifying, Frontier Post reported that “the dead and injured also included women and children.” However, the media also cited locals as saying “foreigner” were among the killed – a term often used to describe foreign al-Qaedia members.
Up to three people were left injured. Two of them were listed as ‘Adnan and his wife’, who were reportedly taken to a hospital in Miramshah. According to locals, Adnan and his family had no links to the Taliban.
The targeted house was in some reports identified as belonging to a retried professor named Taj Mohammad, who, according to The News, was not home at the time of attack.
All sources, including Pakistani officials, reported that the strike was carried out by a US drone.
