The US reportedly carried out four drone strikes in north Waziristan on January 1st, 2011. The first described below and the subsequent three in Ob182, Ob183 and Ob184.

The first of the four linked strikes in north Waziristan took place in the early morning in Mandi Khel and struck a moving car and a house, killing at least seven and up to nine alleged militants – possibly connected to Hafiz Gul Bahadur, as reported by LA Times, while another two where wounded.

A security official in Peshawar, cited by Dawn that: “three militants were killed in the car while four were killed in the house.”

Though some reports described the fatalities as “people” and thus indicating the possibility of civilian harm, a February 2012 report published by Associated Press, based on extensive interviews with locals, confirmed that no civilians were killed in this strike nor in Ob182, but instead, that a total of 14 Taliban members were killed.

All known sources said that a US drone has carried out the strikes.
