The US reportedly carried out four drone strikes in north Waziristan on January 1st, 2011. The first two described in Ob181 and Ob182, the third described below and the fourth and last in Ob184.
The third strike of the day took place in Datta Khel where a car was attacked and up to four people were killed in a strike confused by some outlets with Ob184. A few reports described those killed as “people” and thus suggesting that they counted civilians.
However, most sources said they were militants. This was later confirmed in an internal Pakistani government record of drone strikes and casualties, that counted four dead in this strike that hit a car at 1740. “Uzbek militants were killed,” according to the secret document that was published by the Bureau of Investigative Journalism in January 2014.
However, the Pakistan Observer noted as the only source that four “people” additionally were left wounded. Until further details about their status are disclosed, they will be treated as possibly being civilians.
