The US allegedly carried out three strikes in South Waziristan on June 6, 2011. The first strike is detailed below and the other two in Ob215 and Ob216.

The first strike took place in Tigger, Toji Khel Wazir, and struck the reported home of Zari Khan Shamsikhel, killed up to nine people, possibly including civilians.

Sources reported that between seven and nine people – reported by some as “Punjabi Taliban” or as “foreigners” – were killed in the attack along with two wounded.

The Bureau of Investigative Journalism published an internal Pakistani document in January 2014 that listed “four Panjabis and three foreigners” killed in the strike.

However – despite several reports describing the fatalities as militants, several sources, including al-Jazeera’s local correspondent, raised the concerns that civilians possibly were among the nine killed.

Specifically, an eye witness, cited by the CNN, reported that seven civilians were killed. However, it is unsure whether the seven civilians died from this strike or the following one, detailed in Ob215.

All known sources reported that the strike was carried out by a US drone.

Finally, all sources said that the strike was carried out in the early morning, though some said it took place at 2 AM and others said it occurred around 6 AM.
