Up to four people were initially reported killed in a strike on a compound near Wana, South Waziristan. But news agency AFP later quoted a local security official as saying that those in the compound escaped injury: ‘A US drone fired two missiles targeting a vehicle parked in a compound but the militants fled before they could be hit.’ Militant sub-commander Haleem Ullah, reportedly killed three days later, was said to have been among those who escaped.
