A Pakistani and an Afghan newspaper reported that a CIA drone strike killed four Islamic State fighters, including a commander named Pir Agha, in South Waziristan hours before a US Senate delegation visited the tribal agency. There are currently no known reports of civilian harm.

The drone fired two missiles at a vehicle traveling through Marghalan village. Later the same day, a bipartisan delegation of US Senators visited Wana, the capital of South Waizirstan, with Pakistani military brass. However, a single source on twitter indicated that the strike that killed Pir Agha and the other three, happened in Laman area of Afghanistan.
