According to local sources, three random mortar shells landed on Ben Ashour area in Tripoli, Libya on January 2nd, 2020. One of the mortars fell on the house of Quraira Ammar family causing injuries among civilians, while the other two fell on Al Sikka road.

According to Africa Gate, civilians were warned not to gather in the areas that were shelled fearing any shelling renewal or un-exploded mortar shells.

Local reports of clashes point at the GNA or LNA as the culprit.
