South African submission to United Nations Security Council

At the end of February 2025, South Africa published more than 200 pages of its evidence submitted to the International Court of Justice – the court of the United Nations – in its claim of genocide against Israel.

Entitled a “Public dossier of openly available evidence on the State of Israel’s acts of genocide against the Palestinians in Gaza, as of 4 February 2025,” the dossier is a key part of the case that South Africa has presented.

Airwars’ documentation work was cited 16 times in the dossier, while the investigation The Killings They Tweeted was also mentioned. In particular it highlights trends around militant status in the documentation.

The document leans heavily on Airwars’ “Pattern of Harm Analysis” for the period of October 2023 – citing it as vital evidence of the scale of civilian harm in Gaza.

“Overall, Airwars’ data found that for the period of October 2023 only, there were only 26 out of 606 killings by the Israeli military investigated in which it found evidence of militant activity. Of those, an average of 20 civilians were killed, including at least 11 children, and one militant, per incident,” the document reads.
