Airwars Assessment
On the evening of March 1, 2026, several civilians were reported injured after debris and shrapnel from a drone fell on a residential house in Erbil, located in the Kurdistan region of Iraq. Attribution to a belligerent responsible for the drone attack was not found among sources.
Following the incident, Al Jazeera reported “injuries…after drone debris fell on a house in Erbil, Kurdistan, Iraq.” Social media sources, such as journalists Ayman Al-Haddad and Hawar Hebo, shared this news as well. The number of people harmed remains unclear, as sources simply reported “injuries.”
As the military or militant group responsible for the drone was not identified by the sources, the Iranian Military, Israeli Military, and U.S. Forces – the major parties to the conflict – have been recorded as possible belligerents. As multiple sources reported on resulting harm to civilians, the civilian harm status has been recorded as “fair”. This will be updated should additional information become available.
