At least 34 civilians, including at least five children and six women, were killed and dozens of others were injured by an alleged Israeli ground and air attack on Kamal Adwan Hospital in Beit Lahia, Gaza the morning of December 6, 2024. Airwars further identified at least three militants among the fatalities.

Safa News reported at 8:58 a.m. that “more than 30” people had been killed and a number of others had been wounded when homes around Kamal Adwan Hospital were bombed by Israeli forces. A Facebook post from Rami Almozanen stated that the raid of Kamal Adwan killed more than 50 people “inside the hospital, including four people from the medical staff”.

A Facebook post from Orouq Ebraheem provided the names of those killed in the “massacre” in the vicinity of Kamal Adwan Hospital: 34-year-old Muhammad Jawad Ahmad al-Sayyid (Beit Lahia), 38-year-old Nariman Hassan Abd al-Masri (Beit Lahia), her daughter Hajar Muhammad Ramadan Saqr (Beit Lahia), 28-year-old Mustafa Farid Muharab Mahmoud (Jabalia-Tal al-Zaatar), Lamia Mustafa Hassan al-Haw (Beit Lahia-Shi City), 49-year-old Dr. Nasif Ali Ali Abu al-Omrain (al-Nasr-General Security), his wife Manal Abdul Razek Abdul Fattah Abu al-Omrain (Jabalia), their son Bakr Nasif Ali Abu al-Omrain (Jabalia), their other son Basil Nasif Ali Abu al-Omrain (Jabalia), their daughter 14-year-old Lana Nasif Ali Abu al-Omrain (Beit Lahia), 30-year-old Yasser Mahmoud Fouad Abu Matar (Beit Lahia), 40-year-old Faten Ghazi Ali Abu Awad (Jabalia), 20-year-old Mahmoud Ali Mahmoud Zaher (Gaza), his cousin 28-year-old Yahya (Yousef) Marwan Muhammad al-Rantisi (Jabalia), his cousin 36-year-old Abdullah Khader Muhammad al-Rantisi (Jabalia), 33-year-old Bilal Osama Abd al-Malik Abu al-Jibin (Beit Lahia-al-Mashru’), 27-year-old Musab Harb Nimr Zaqoul (Jabalia-al-Houja Street), 27-year-old Omar Marwan Muhammad Tabil (Jabalia), 48-year-old Awda Muhammad Awda Hussein (Jabalia), 29-year-old Abdul Aziz Fayez Muhammad al-Haw (Jabalia), 26-year-old Abdullah Madhat Hamdan al-Hajj (Jabalia), 27-year-old Mahmoud Suhail Musa Alian (Jabalia), Abdullah Ramadan Abdul Rahman (Jabalia), Yahya Muhammad Mahmoud Shalha (Jabalia), 24-year-old Younis Abdullah Younis Khala (Jabalia), 25-year-old Muhammad Ahmad Juma Ghaben (Jabalia), 35-year-old Farah Muhammad Matar Ghaben (Jabalia), 35-year-old Ahmad Abdul Fattah Abdullah Abu Mahadi (Jabalia), his brother 26-year-old Mahmoud Abdel Fattah Abu Mahadi, 10-year-old Muhammad Arab Hisham Abu Saif (Jabalia), 64-year-old Arif Mahmoud Abu Saif (Abu Ali), and his son 36-year-old Muhammad Arif Mahmoud Abu Saif.

A Facebook post from Mohamed Mohamed al-Shabrawy reported that four members of the al-Shabrawy had been killed in an Israeli bombing of Kamal Adwan Hospital in the morning, specifying that Faisal Shaaban Ahmed al-Shabrawy and his wife Amal Ahmed Abdul-Wahid Zahid, and Na’el Faisal Shaaban al-Shabrawy and his wife Eman Sami Abu Sisi were killed. A different Mohamed al-Shabrawy mourned his father and mother Faisal and Amal and his brother and brother’s wife Na’el and Eman, including images of three men, likely himself, his father, and his brother.

Mohammed al-Sharif posted a prayer for death of his friend Muhammad Jawad Ahmad al-Sayyid.

Nadeem Ma memorialized their cousin’s daughter Nariman Hassan al-Masri (Umm Samid) and Nariman’s daughter Hajar Muhammad Abu Sakr, describing them as “steadfast in their faith” and mentioning that they would be joining their siblings Thaer and Muhammad who had died before them. The post included an image of a young baby girl wearing a hat.

A Facebook post from the “Jabalia camp residents” page announced the death of “son of the camp” Mustafa Farid Mahmoud who had “ascended to join the convoy of Jabalia camp moons” and included an image of Mustafa sitting in the front seat of a car in a red shirt, black pants, and sandals.

Teacher Lamia Mustafa Hassan al-Haw (Abu Jalala) was mourned by her cousin Etimad Abu Jalala, describing her as “honest, kind, generous, and full of life” and referring to her as someone that refused to evacuate to the south from Jabalia refugee camp. The post from Etimad Abu Jalala also wished safety for Lamia’s son Ahmed al-Haw, indicating that he was injured in the same attack, and included an image of Lamia, pictured wearing a maroon hijab.

Sama Hasan shared their distress at the loss of their cousin Dr. Nayef, his wife, and their children, adding that Mohammad al-Bakr was still missing. In the post, Nayef is pictured in scrubs in what appears to be a medical facility. Manar A Khader mourned their sister Manal’s death, adding that their brother Mohammed Khader had been injured and wished him a speedy recovery.

The passing of Yasser Abu Matar (Abu al-Laban) was announced by Mahmoud Shaqura who described Yasser as joining “his martyred father and brothers” and as “an orphan since childhood [who] was not just a brother; he was a father, a friend, and a teacher, who bore the trust of raising his brothers in righteousness and piety, and was their support and a role model in this world” with specific condolences offered to his brother Ezz al-Din. The post included an image of Yasser, a young man with glasses. The Kamal Adwan Hospital nursing staff also mourned Yasser who they referred to as “our administrative colleague” and stating that he had been killed by “gunfire” in the hospital grounds.

Relatives Amir al-Rantisi, Anas al-Rantisi, and Mohammed al-Rantisi all offered prayers for the loss of Mahmoud Zaher, Yahya al-Rantisi and Abdullah al-Rantisi and included images of three men posing with various different backgrounds and smiling at the camera.

Bilal Osama Abd al-Malik Abu al-Jibin was remembered by Abd Hasan who pointed out that he would be joining his daughter and siblings in paradise and wished “our brother and uncle” Osama (possibly Bilal’s father Osama al-Jibin) a speedy recovery, indicating that he ws inured in the attack.

A brother and friend of Musab Zaqoul named Waseem M. El-Masrri posted an image and accompanying condolence message for Musab, with the image showing a smiling young man in a yellow shirt.

Arif Mahmoud Abu Saif was honored as the muezzin of a local mosque by Umm al-Ghwali. Relative Omar Abu Saif told a story of the child Muhammad Arab Abu Saif chopping wood just a few days before to keep his family warm in northern Gaza, adding that he was killed along with his cousin Arif and his cousin’s son Muhammed Arif and that their cousin Mahmoud Abu Saif (Abu al-Layl) was also injured. The post included an image of young Muhammad Arab wearing a blue shirt and pants and chopping wood with an axe.

Wael Mahadi mourned the lost of his cousins, Ahmad Abdul Fattah Mahadi and his brother Mahmoud.

Abu Islam Ghaben posted a memorial to his brother Muhammad Ahmad Juma Ghaben, along with a picture of Muhammad, a young man seen wearing a bright yellow shirt.

Younis Abdullah Khala was remembered by Ramadan Shaheen who wrote about seeing Younis’ daughter Wafaa before they left.

Airwars has also identified three militants among the victims. According to Nisreen Razayna, Omar Tabeel was as a member of “the resistance movement” while another post from Mahmoud S. Hijazi referred to Omar as “a fighter, a field commander”. Based on these references, Omar has been classified as a militant. Both Abdul Aziz Fayez Muhammad al-Haw and Anas al-Masri were also both referred to as members of the resistance movement, while Rami al-Aistadh referred to Anas as a “stubborn fighter”. Anas has been classified as a militant based on these multiple references while Abdul Aziz was originally classified as a militant with “contested” status, given the singular and therefore more ambiguous nature of his references on social media. However, on March 19, 2025, Palestinian Islamic Jihad (PIJ) published a list of commanders who were killed since October 7, 2023. Abdul Aziz was named and photographed, and his affiliation was recorded as “Field platoon leader – Martyr’s Battalion Moqled Hamid – North Brigade.” As such, on March 24, 2025, Abdul Aziz’s status was updated from contested militant, which included his death in the upper range of 1) civilian men and 2) militants killed, to full militant status. Accounting for this change in status, the upper range of civilian men killed was decreased by one, and lower range of militants killed increased by one.

Salah Abdalat described the events that happened: in the morning, the Israeli forces “launched a large-scale ground and air attack in the vicinity of Kamal Adwan Hospital, which lasted for several hours, before withdrawing from the area, leaving behind an initial toll of widespread destruction and nearly 50 martyrs, including 4 medical staff at Kamal Adwan Hospital, and dozens of wounded and missing, by targeting homes in the vicinity of the hospital.”

A tweet from @MyPalestine0 showed “the scene in the yard of Kamal Adwan Hospital” with an image of at least 15 bodies wrapped in shrouds, some of them small and possibly children. In a video published by Al Jazeera (@ajmubasher) beginning with a similar scene, men can be seen moving bodies wrapped in shrouds in the courtyard and later shows the inside of the hospital with injured victims on every free space of the floor.

According to journalist Anas Sharif and many others, Israeli forces continued to target anyone that tried to rescue the injured and killed lying in the streets. The tweet included images of bodies piled in the rubble and one man trying to drag another body, unclear if they are injured or deceased, on a mattress. @Kahlout9 mentioned that at the time, 29 bodies had been recovered but “martyrs remain in the streets”.

Where possible, names have been matched with the Palestinian Ministry of Health (MoH) lists, which include national ID numbers. Airwars is matching individuals to the first list where their name appeared. In regard to this incident, names are matched to the eighth ‘Palestinian Ministry of Health List of Fatalities in Gaza’ list, which was released on March 24, 2025. Additional ages of victims have been found by cross-checking names against lists of fatalities shared online by Shireen Monitor, an organisation which has a list of “Martyrs of Palestine” from 2023 onward.

Where sources identified a belligerent, all sources attributed the attack to the Israeli military.
