On March 7, 2026, one person was injured in an alleged drone strike on the ARABIA III offshore oil rig located ten nautical miles north of Jubail, Saudi Arabia in the Persian Gulf. The name and condition of the injured person were not yet found through open source research.
On the day of the alleged strike, the UKMTO announced that it had “received a third-party report of an incident 10NM north of Jubail, Saudi Arabia in TTW. The report is being investigated. 14:50 UTC: Third party reports possible UAV attack, majority of crew have been evacuated and reportedly safe. Skeleton crew remains. Vessels are advised to transit with caution and report any suspicious activity to UKMTO.”
In its list of ‘Highlighted (confirmed) incidents in the Strait of Hormuz and the Middle East,’ the UN’s International Maritime Organization (IMO) includes one incident on March 7, 2026, which involved the ARABIA III (IMO 8771332) vessel, located near Jubail, Saudi Arabia, and resulted in “Damage. No pollution. One seafarer injured.”
Sources did not name a belligerent responsible for the incident and as such the strike status has been recorded as ‘contested’, with all conflict parties listed in the military actor fields. This will be updated should additional information become available.
