On February 21st, 2011, nine burned bodies were found in the Fadeel ben Oumar military base, near Tripoli. The civilians had their hands tied behind their back, suspected to be due to capture by the Gaddafi forces, reported by a UN report.

The report states “on 21 February, he had been called to Fadeel ben Oumar military base, where in an underground cell, nine burned bodies were found. There was a fuel jerrycan beside the bodies. The bodies, (seemingly in civilian clothes from what remained), reportedly had their hands tied behind their back. The doctor noted they had suffered shots to the head, and he believed from the condition of the bodies that they had been burned after being killed.”

One child was allegedly killed by a NATO airstrike on Qasr Abu Hadi.

Three different pages listing victim of the NATO intervention named Muhammad Khaled Al-Sayyid Al-Qahsi Al-Gaddafi as killed on October 3rd. A comment on the Al Gaddadifa page said he was “killed in front of his family’s eyes on 3/10/2011 at 3 o’clock because of NATO bombing and they weren’t able to bury him till 6 o’clock next day.”

NATO on that day reported no strikes around Sirte.

The incident occured at approximately 3:00 pm local time.

On May 16th, 2011, NATO forced bombed Tripoli, including a hotel near the Bab al-Azizyah neighbourhood. Multiple sources reported the airstrikes, although it was unclear if there were civilian casualties.

Al Jazeera for example noted: “On Monday evening, NATO forces bombed civilian and military targets in the Libyan capital, Tripoli, and the nearby Qasr Bin Ghashir region, according to Libyan state television, while the rebels announced that they were planning to head towards the west of the country. Libyan State TV quoted a military source with news of the bombing, and saying that the strikes caused ‘material and human damage.'”

Abo Mohammad posted: “The Libyan regime TV reported that the city of Tripoli and the Qasr bin Ghashir area were bombed this evening, and reports from Al-Manara reported that three powerful explosions shook Bab Al-Aziziyah.”

NATO reported airstrikes “in Tripoli: 1 Command & Control Node, 1 Military Training Facility. In the vicinity of Tripoli: 1 Surface-To-Air Fire Control Radar, 2 Land Based Air Surveillance Radars”.

On August 10th, 2011, Gaddafi forces reportedly fired between four to eight rockets at Misurata. A single source claims three had arrived in the hospital during the bombings, and an another source mentions injuries without providing a number. It was unclear how many of those who arrived at the hospital were injured, killed, as well as their combatant status.

An Al Somood Facebook post shows blood being take from an injured man in a hospital, and a brief interview with a doctor, showing two people injured, reportedly due to the Gaddafi strikes.

A misratapost tweet mentions “8 Grad rockets fell on the eastern region of Misurata, believed to have come from Tawergha.”

On April 11th, 2011, three members of the Swaib family were killed, with three other member injured by Gaddafi forces in Misurata. A Facebook post from the page “Libya Only” reported the casualties on April 24th. A young child and his parents were injured, with another four year old child reported dead alongside two male adults.

Libya only reports ” he was injured when he was with his family near the island of Duran Karazaz (Muhammad Jamal Muhammad Swaib), where his grandfather (Muhammad Swaib, who was 63 years old) and his uncle (Hamza Muhammad Swaib, who was 22 years old) were martyred. And his cousin (Aisha Misbah Sweib, who was 4 years old!), And both his father and mother were injured.”

HRW and another page called “Martyrs List” confirmed the casualties.

At least 29 people were killed at a camp site outside the Bab Al Aziziyah compound in Tripoli on August 25, 2011 that may have housed a makeshift medical clinic and was alleged to be supervised by Gaddafi supporters.

According to BBC News, two of those killed had strips of green cloth, indicating that they were Gaddafi supports, but it is unclear whether they were killed by rebels or Gaddafi loyalists. Human Rights Watch says that four of the bodies were on hospital beds and the others were lying on mines.
