Airwars assessment

Local sources reported that airstrikes struck the city of Masaken Hanano, Aleppo, and led to the death of two civilians and several injured. The strikes were reportedly  part of a widespread shelling of Aleppo.

According to Sky News, “intensive raids targeted the neighbourhoods of the Masaken Hanano, Salah al-Din and Al Jazmati and Al Mashhad. A still large number of dead and wounded are under the rubble, and the Civil Defense teams could not lift them until the moment.”

Sources were contested as to whether the strikes were carried out by Russia or the Syrian regime. LCCSY and @Shahba_press attributed the strikes to Russia, while 24 News and Smart News blamed the Syrian regime. Al-Modon blamed both.

The local time of the incident is unknown.

Airwars assessment

An airstrike, that struck the city of Jassem in Dara’a, reportedly killed up to nine civilians and wounded dozens more, including women and children, local media said. The incident was described by several media as a “massacre”. Sources were conflicted as to whether Russia or the Assad regime were to blame.

Sources reported between five to nine civilians casualties as a result of the strike. Most said that seven civilians were killed. Moreover, several sources reported that the strike had wounded “dozens”, including women and children. LCCSY, Syrian Press Center and Dara Martyr News identified a total of eight civilian male victims, hereof one confirmed adult.

A media activist told Umayya Press that “the air force targeted the center of the city with an air strike that killed seven civilians, including displaced people from the city of Ankle, and carried out several air raids on the outskirts of the city.”

The strike reportedly hit a residential area, several media said. RFS Media reported that: “The military aircraft of the regime forces carried out a new massacre in the countryside of Daraa after targeting the residential neighbourhoods of Jassim in the morning with an air raid on the homes of civilians and shops nearby, leaving a large number of martyrs and wounded among the civilians”. The strike was, therefore, said to have inflicted heavy damage on properties as well. Other sources said that the city’s market was hit.

The majority of the sources, including Step news agency, LCCSY and Smart News, pointed to “Russian warplanes”, while some others – the Syrian Network for Human Rights, Shaam News, Rfsmediaoffice News and Muheet News – attributed the strikes to the Syrian regime. A number of other reports didn’t identify the responsible party, referring only to “warplanes”.

The local time of the incident is unknown.

Airwars assessment

Between one and five civilians were killed – including three children and a woman – and as many as dozens more were wounded in an alleged airstrike which struck Al Maysar, Aleppo on the morning of the 22nd.

There is conflicted reporting on who was to blame for the alleged airstrikes, with sources such as Al Jazeera blaming the Syrian regime. However most sources attributed blame to Russian warplanes.

Al Jazeera claimed that poisonous chloride gas was used, however none of the other sources support this claim, despite evidence to suggest that the gas was being used during other incidents of the Russia campaign in November 2016. There were also multiple reports that explosive barrels had been dropped.

According to @ZaitonMagazin, a family of five were killed.

Many sources reported that explosive barrel bombs and parachute missiles were used in the alleged raid.

Upsetting footage shows a young girl being rescued from the rubble. She is one of up to 24 alleged injured casualties.

More video evidence shows a man weeping over the loss of his baby son who was killed in his home.

The incident occured around dawn.

Two adult males were killed, and several others were wounded – including one woman – in an aerial bombardment on Binnish. According to Arabic.rt, the shelling struck two groups of armed men in the morning of the 22nd.

Sources were conflicted as to whether Russia or the Assad regime were responsible for the raids and civilian harm.

Edlib News reported that five rockets were launched on the town with Spm-syria, adding that much civilian property was destroyed. Photographic evidence of a woman being rescued in the aftermath supports this claim.

The incident occured around dawn.

Airwars assessment

As many as nine civilians were killed – and up to 10 or more were wounded – in alleged airstrikes which struck Al Latamneh. According to sources the initial death toll was six, however this rose throughout the day. Sources were conflicted as to who was to blame for the raids. Some sources attributed blame to the Syrian regime, and others to Russian warplanes.

According to reports, the target was a construction site, meaning many bodies were trapped under the rubble. It was named the “Sabun Patun workshop” by Enabbaladi News. Additionally, there were serious injuries with civilians being transported to a field hospital.

Parts of the surrounding residential neighbourhood including residential housing and other public facilities were also destroyed in the missile strike. However, according to Enabbalaidi, rocket-propelled grenades were also used by the Syrian regime.

Video footage shows the burial of the victims in the aftermath of the airstrike.

Additional reports suggest that Al Latamneh is a town occupied by members of the Free Syrian Army, which could explain why it repeatedly becomes a target for the Syrian regime.

The incident occured around dawn.

Airwars assessment

Between three and four civilians were killed and at least 10 others were wounded in air or artillery strikes on Aleppo’s Al Fardous neighbourhood, although local sources were conflicted as to whether Russian or regime planes were responsible.

According to sources such as @ShahbaPress and @AleppoAMC, explosive barrel bombs were dropped in the attack. The majority of sources listed four as the number of civilians killed, while only Syrian Network for Human Rights reported three civilian casualties.

It was unclear whether Russian or regime planes carried out the airstrikes against Al Fardous. According to both Syrian Network for Human Rights and Micro News, the airstrikes were conducted by regime planes. However, the Local Coordination Committees in Syria attributed the airstrikes to Russia.

A video posted by Albou Azizi shows the White Helmets rescuing injured civilians from the rubble following the airstrikes – and a video posted by Step News shows the physical destruction to buildings caused by the airstrikes.
