Raialyoum reported that “a Libyan oil company guard was killed by a bomb attack on the Ras Lanuf area of the oil crescent in central Libya on Tuesday by retired general Khalifa Haftar.”

The source added, “The site ‘Libya Al Khabar’ today quoted a leader of the ‘defense brigades of Benghazi’ as saying that the bombing also caused material damage, including damage to one of the oil tanks and the destruction of maintenance workshop close to the port of Ras Lanuf in full.”

Airwars assessment

An LNA airplane conducted strikes in Al-Fatayih, according to various sources. Libya Al Mostakbal reported there were no human casualties but a herd of sheep got hit and some of the animals were killed.

Several sources claimed that the plane later crashed over Tobruk into the Tersha neighbourhood, which led to the death of the pilot Saleh Jawda.

Mohamed Idris Mansori later posted a statement from the Derna Shura Council on Twitter stating that there were casualties from the airstrike itself. However, the plane crashed into the house of the Elkishi family, killing both husband and wife. Libyan News Network‎ said that three residents died.

Various sources reported an LNA strike near Al-Jufra that allegedly killed a man and injured four Chadian citizens. However, the sources didn’t give information regarding whether the victims were civilians or not.

According to Ali Salim, “there was one dead and four Chadian wounded following night air raids on Al Jufra base.”

Ean Libya reported that there had been no civilian casualties, however, Libya Alaan reported that “the airbase was blown up by aerial bombardment on Tuesday night [April 4th], resulting in the injury of missile launchers who were there”.

The LNA reportedly bombed in the Al-Fatayih neighbourhood in Derna near the Faculty of Agriculture, resulting in the death of one six-month-old child.

According to Libya Al Khabar, “A child from the eastern Libyan city of Derna died on Friday [April 14th] after falling into a coma after an airstrike close to his family’s home”.

Libya Alahrar TV also said that a child died in a strike “carried out by Al-Karama aircraft.”

Al Nabaa reported a week after the incident that the child was part of the Shinib family.

Some other sources, including S777 and  Libya Today TV – reported “material damage” to the area but “no loss of life”.

fares11elforsan said that the strike targeted “al-Qaeda in the vicinity of the Faculty of Agriculture”.

Social media sources reported two LNA airstrikes in Al-Fatayih East of Derna with a MiG-21 and a MiG-23BN.

Press Solidarity reported that the Irsa School for Girls in Al-Fatayih had to shut down temporarily as it was constantly hit by shrapnel from the bombing but didn’t mention any civilian harm: “The school administration explained on Thursday that the suspension of the study was to protect the safety of the students and the school staff as a result of the school’s exposure during the working hours of the fall of a large number of shrapnel on the building and the windows of the classrooms and in the yards of the school.”

Libya News Today reported that civilian house was destroyed and damaged by the strikes: “A military aircraft belonging to Omar al-Mukhtar’s operation room, MiG-21, shelled an area near civilian houses on Wednesday, destroying a house and damaging other houses.”
