Airwars assessment

Three children died and seven more civilians were wounded in airstrikes on Jisr al Shoughour, according to local media – though sources were conflicted as to whether Russia or the Syrian regime were to blame.

Reports said ‘the national hospital in Jisr al Shoughour’ or ‘a field hospital’ was struck, along with the Sakan Al-Shababi residential buildings and the city center in Jisr Al Shoughour.

Syrian Network for Human Rights claims that the national hospital became inoperable after the raid due to the extensive damage and staff injuries.

Three children were killed in the raid and 7 or more civilians were injured, including members of staff at the hospital.

Baladi and Qasioun were among sources which blamed the Regime, though Umatoday and the Shaam News Network attributed the event to Russia.

The local time of the incident is unknown.

Furthermore, according to the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights, there were multiple attacks: “Warplanes bombarded areas of Hayan town, no reported losses. Areas between Aazaz and Afrin were exposed to bombardment by regime forces. Helicopters dropped explosive barrels on the Castello road and Kafar Hamra which killed two children in Kafar Hamra. A man was killed with his child by a landmine around A’zaz city. Aerial bombardment targeted Hreitan and al-Mallah areas, no reported losses.”

Heavy and “barbaric” shelling killed six named civilians including two children and injured between 10 and 25 civilians in Ar-Rastan, Homs, according to local media. The majority of the injured were – according to Baladi News and Sna Agency – mostly women and children. Sources were conflicted as to whether this was the work of Russia or the Syrian regime.

Several sources claimed that two other bodies were so badly burnt they were unidentifiable, including Qasioun News Agency, Sna News Agency and other local sources.

All sources blamed either Russian or Syrian regime warplanes. Shaam Network reported that “The skies of the northern Homs countryside and western Hama countryside were full of planes. Assad and his allies have carried out air raids on liberated points on the civilian houses, which led to the fall of martyrs and wounded a number of civilians.”

Homscommittee reported five children died and blamed the regime.
