A civilian died and another civilian was injured when the roof of their home in the village of Sarja, Idlib governorate, collapsed on November 17th, 2020. According to local sources, the building was damaged in earlier alleged Russian or Syrian regime strikes.
The Syrian Network for Human Rights wrote that “a 30-year-old Syrian citizen, named as Munif Ahmad Naddaf, died when the roof of his home in Sarja village in the southern suburbs of Idlib governorate collapsed on November 17, 2020.” According to the source, “local activists explained to SNHR that the roof had been severely damaged by intensive bombardment of the village by Syrian-Russian Alliance forces in previous military campaigns.”
The Syrian Civil Defence reported “the death of a civilian, and the injury of another, after the roof of a house fell on them as a result of previous bombing by the regime, in the village of Sarja, south of Idlib, yesterday evening, Tuesday, November 17, which is the second death of its kind yesterday.” A similar incident occured in the village of Qastoun, Hama governorate.
The SCD furthermore asked civilians to not go near collapsed buildings, but instead inform the civil defence teams about them.
The date of the strikes leading to the man’s death is unknown.
The incident occured in the evening.
