Shortly before 2:05 PM on Sunday, 1 December 2024, an airstrike hit the village of Tal Maled, north of Aleppo, Syria. The attack reportedly resulted in the injury of a four-year-old child and the destruction of a residential building. The attack was reportedly carried out by Syrian and/or Russian military aircraft.

The first information about the attack was posted by the Syrian Civil Defense on Twitter/X at 2:05 PM.  Facebook user Mustafa Alkahtip also reported the incident with his post showing a column of smoke rising from a residential area. Facebook user Hasan al Ahmed shared the same image with the inscription, “In this raid, target was a four-year-old child.”

Further posts about the attack were published on Facebook and X/Twitter in the following hours, with @SyriaCivilDefe sharing images of the damage to the residential building as it was inspected by White Helmet rescuers. The upper floors of the house collapsed under the concrete roof, and a large crater can also be seen near the structure. The group affirmed that the injured child was treated by civilians near the scene before the rescuers arrived.

No further details were given about the identity of the injured child.

The attribution of the attack is disputed. Where sources identified the belligerent, the Syrian Civil Defense attributed the strike to the Syrian regime forces while Facebook user Mustafa AlKahtip – to the Russian military.
