A man working as a guard of a communications tower on Jabal Namah in Ibb, Yemen was killed by alleged US airstrikes on April 3, 2025.
According to @TvAlmasirah’s correspondent in Ibb, an American attack on Jabal (Mount) Namah killed a communications network guard. Abduldaiem Al-Hadrami reported that the strike hit a “civilian facility used for civilian communications for the Saba Phone and You Company” which resulted in the death of Abdul-Wasie Abdul-Wahab Zaher, a guard of the tower. Ibb News Network posted images of Abdul-Wasie, a middle-aged man pictured in a suit jacket and white button-up shirt with a traditional jambiya dagger on his waist.
Abduldaiem Al-Hadrami provided additional details about the damage caused by the strikes, along with images taken during a visit to the site by government and health officials. The attack resulted in “a crater 10-12 meters wide and 8-9 meters deep. Many concrete blocks flew from the base of the tower, as well as many rock blocks”. In addition, the home of the deceased man and his family was destroyed and a historic mosque near the tower was partially damaged. A post from Hadi Shandaq included an image of the communications network tower before the attack while Mohammed Mahyoub Al-Abidi posted an image of “the site of the US missile attack” on Mount Namah where dozens of men can be seen walking among the rubble of what appears to be the crushed metal tower.
Graphic images and a video posted by @almrsadnewsnet appear to show civil defense workers trying to remove the body of a deceased individual from rubble during the nighttime. Another video published by @hamedrizq01 (but according to the logo is from Saba Yemen) taken during the day documents the extensive damage to the tower, with metal and wires seen among the rubble and the massive crater, as well as the body of the deceased victim. During an interview in the same video, a man described the bombing as “very heavy” with more than two missiles, which caused shaking and trembling in the surrounding areas, adding that in addition to the civilians communications site and mosque, the location also included an archaeological site.
Where sources identified a belligerent, all sources attributed the strikes to the US military.
