Two civilians, a young man and his daughter, were injured when alleged U.S. airstrikes struck the Majel Ad-Damna cemetery in the Al-Safiyah neighborhood of Sana’a, Yemen the evening of April 19, 2025. A Houthi leader was also reportedly killed in the strike.
@TvAlmasirah reported that one person was wounded by a U.S. strike on the Majel Ad-Damna cemetery. The same source posted a video which begins with the visual of a crater – at least 6 feet deep – amongst tombstones which had been destroyed and reduced to rubble. The video also showed a building near the cemetery, which had been damaged.
The video included an interview with an injured man, lying in a hospital bed in a medical facility. In the interview, the man said that the missile “targeted us in our house”, before correcting himself and saying that the strike hit the cemetery next to their house. He went on to say that the shrapnel came in through their house, and the next thing he remembered was being in the hospital. The interview closed with him saying that he was injured alongside his daughter.
A video posted by Ali Ashish also showed the damage sustained by the cemetery and the building close by caused by the strikes. Images posted by @alsyasiah include metal remnants which may have come from the munition as well as additional coverage of the damage sustained by the tombstones in the cemetery.
According to a report by Mwatana for Human Rights, which was published in September 2026 by Brown University's Cost of War project, "a number of impoverished families who had been living within the cemetery were forced to relocate away from its vicinity" following the alleged U.S. strike.
A Facebook post from “Yemeni Tihama dagger” reported that a high-ranking Houthi leader who was living near Majel Ad-Damna cemetery in the Al-Safiyah neighborhood of Sanaa was killed by a U.S. airstrike.
