Military reports – February 2015

Monthly summary: Below are all known daily coalition military reports relating to  the air war against Islamic State in Iraq and Syria for February 2015. We have also included relevant video and photo releases, as well as indicating where possible civilian or ‘friendly fire’ casualties may have occurred.

The murder of a Jordanian pilot in early February led to a significant upswing in rhetoric against Islamic State. However this was not generally matched by an increase in military action by Arab partners in Syria, where increasingly the US appeared to be acting unilaterally. In contrast, western allies of the US in Iraq were now carrying out 30-40% of all strikes.

A number of  incidents have been flagged in both Iraq and Syria which might have involved civilian deaths – although as in other months, the evidence base is often weak. Up to 95 non-combatants were claimed killed.
