Midden-Oosten
De Nederlandse F-16’s, actief in de strijd tegen terreurorganisatie ISIS, maakten 28 vluchten boven verschillende provincies van Irak en zetten daarbij 13 keer wapens in.
Weer kwamen Nederlandse instructeurs aan in Irak voor het opleiden van Irakese militairen en Koerdische Peshmerga-strijders. De eenheden leren hoe ze ISIS op de grond kunnen bevechten.

On Feb. 9, U.S. and Coalition military forces continued to attack ISIL terrorists in Syria, using attack aircraft to conduct an airstrike. Separately, U.S. and Coalition military forces conducted 11 airstrikes in Iraq, using fighter, attack and remotely piloted aircraft against ISIL terrorists. All strikes took place between 8 a.m., Feb. 9, and 8 a.m., Feb. 10, local time. The following is a summary of the strikes conducted since the last press release:

* Near Dayr az Zawr, an airstrike destroyed an ISIL armored vehicle.
Iraq
* Near Al Huwayjah, an airstrike struck an ISIL weapons storage facility.

An armed reconnaissance patrol by a Reaper on Monday morning [February 9th] over western Iraq spotted a checkpoint manned by ISIL, denying the local population any freedom of movement. Having checked the area for any risk to civilians, the Reaper’s crew attacked the checkpoint with a Hellfire missile.

February 9th – Combined Joint Task Force-Operation Inherent Resolve delivered precise and effective airstrikes on enemy positions near Mosul, in support of the Iraqi Government’s fight against ISIL. Security Forces from the Kurdish region seized three bridgeheads on the west bank of the Tigris River, north of Mosul in formerly held Daesh areas.
From Feb. 6-8, in support of the Government of Iraq’s (GOI) campaign to defeat ISIL, the Coalition executed four close air support airstrikes to facilitate the maneuver of the Kurdish Security Forces and their successful attack. In addition to airstrikes, Coalition Advise and Assist teams continue to provide operational and intelligence assistance to Kurdish Security Forces which further enables them to successfully conduct offensive operations.
The CJTF-OIR Coalition will continue supporting efforts on behalf of all Iraqi Security Forces and the GoI, to attack and defeat Daesh. Kurdish Peshmerga Forces now hold the gains they have made and are postured to retake additional territory from Daesh in the vicinity of Mosul.

Plus tard dans la nuit, les avions français ont participé à un raid aérien au sud-ouest de Kirkourk aux environs de Tal Ward.
