Le 30 janvier 2015 matin, lors d’une mission de reconnaissance armée conduite entre Mossoul, Kirkourk et Baiji, un groupe de 150 combattants de Daecha été identifié en position de combat contre des forces peshmergas irakiennes. Une frappe des forces françaises a permis d’en neutraliser une cinquantaine. Le même jour et dans la même zone, les aéronefs ont également neutralisé une position de tir qui faisait feu sur des forces irakiennes.

January 30th: An RAF Reaper operating in support of Iraqi ground forces conducted 4 strikes with Hellfire missiles on terrorists in the west of the country.

In the early hours of Saturday morning [January 31st] , a Tornado GR4 patrol located a group of armoured personnel carriers being used by ISIL and attacked them with a combination of Brimstone missiles and Paveway IV guided bombs.

As part of the international coalition’s efforts to support the Iraqi government in its fight against ISlL, RAF Tornado GR4s last night [January 28th] conducted an armed reconnaissance patrol over north-west Iraq, where the Kurdish peshmerga continue to press ISIL hard with a series of successful offensives.

Near Baa’j, the Tornados investigated a reported ISIL checkpoint, which was being used to prevent the local civilian population from being able to move freely. The checkpoint, which included a guard room and an equipment storage area, was destroyed with Paveway IV precision guided bombs.

Nearby, the GR4 patrol also located an ISIL armoured personnel carrier, and successfully attacked it with a Brimstone missile.
