In the early hours of 2 January, a Royal Air Force Tornado GR4 armed reconnaissance patrol located an ISIL armoured personnel carrier to the east of Al Qaim, and conducted a successful strike with a Brimstone missile.

On 1 January 2015, while taking part in coalition missions in support of Iraqi security forces (ISF) ground operations conducted north-west of Baghdad, two CF-188 Hornets successfully struck ISIL fighting positions using precision guided munitions.

December 31st 2014 – U.S. and partner nation military forces continued to attack ISIL terrorists in Syria, Dec. 31, using fighter and bomber aircraft to conduct seven airstrikes. Separately, U.S. and partner nation military forces conducted three airstrikes in Iraq, Dec. 31, using fighter and remotely piloted aircraft against the ISIL terrorists. * Near Al Hasakah, two airstrikes destroyed four oil derricks.

* Near Kobani, five airstrikes destroyed five ISIL buildings and six ISIL fighting positions.

Iraq

* Near Fallujah, two airstrikes [1 Canadian] struck two ISIL tactical units.
