The Israeli occupation army announced on Wednesday the assassination of Hussein Mazhar, a commander in Hezbollah's Badr unit, in an airstrike in southern Lebanon.

According to the Israeli newspaper Yedioth Ahronoth, citing the Israeli occupation, Mazhar was assassinated yesterday. Mazhar was responsible for directing fire in the Zahrani sector of Hezbollah's Badr unit, in the Babliyeh area of southern Lebanon.

The Israeli occupation army spokesperson stated that Mazhar, as part of his role, "provided numerous fire directions toward the State of Israel and IDF forces."

The spokesperson added that "Mazher had recently worked on attempts to restore the terrorist organization's artillery in southern Lebanon."

أعلن جيش الاحتلال الإسرائيلي، اليوم الأربعاء، اغتال حسين مزهر القيادي في وحدة بدر بحزب الله بغارة على جنوبي لبنان.

وحسبما ذكرت صحيفة "يديعوت أحرونوت" العبرية، نقلا عن الاحتلال، وقع اغتيال مزهر أمس وهو المسؤول عن إدارة نيران قطاع الزهراني في وحدة بدر التابعة لحزب الله، في منطقة البابلية جنوب لبنان.

وأفاد المتحدث باسم جيش الاحتلال الإسرائيلي بذلك، أن مظهر في إطار دوره، "قدّم العديد من اتجاهات إطلاق النار باتجاه دولة إسرائيل وقوات الجيش. 

وأضاف المتحدث أن "مزهر عمل مؤخرًا على محاولات ترميم مدفعية التنظيم الإرهابي في جنوب لبنان".
